Coming To Terms With My Aging Skin

Ugh… This is a tough one to write about, but it has been haunting me and I thought I should share in case anyone else out there is feeling the same way as I am. Kind of a “misery loves company” kind of thing. It isn’t easy to share your insecurities with others or draw attention to your “flaws”. I was wondering if it was just best to keep this to myself. But then I thought, maybe, just maybe, this post would reach somebody out there and let them know that they are not alone. Or maybe, just maybe, someone out there would let me know that I am not alone! So, here goes… I am 46 years old. I eat pretty good (I’m not a fan of sweets, I abstain from gluten products, and I incorporate a lot of fruits and veggies on a daily basis) I drink a lot of water, and I work out several times or more a week and am fairly toned. Up until now I felt pretty good about …

I hope to update you with my Favorite Things on a weekly basis so check in often! First up is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30). I desperately needed concealer so I went with their recommendation that day. I’m so glad I did. I love this stuff! Even better than my Stila. It goes on so smooth with just the right amount of coverage! Why didn’t I know about this sooner! “Coveted by artists for its luxurious texture and luminous finish, new Radiant Creamy Concealer evens …

Don’t Bake In The Sun: Get A Modern Glow With An Airbrush Tan

May is Melanoma Awareness month! And even though May is coming to an end we still need to be aware of the dangers of melanoma. What is the leading cause of melanoma? UV radiation from the sun and tanning beds! Not good news for those of us who like to get a little (or a lot) of color when the temperatures rise and you’ll be showing more skin. While melanoma typically strikes those of us with light-colored skin and light-colored eyes more often, melanoma does not discriminate! Yes, even those of you with darker skin and eyes can get melanoma, though it is not as common. What’s a girl (or guy) to do?! When summer rolls around and the sun comes out, many people crave a golden glow. Nobody wants to sport shorts and sundresses with white legs! Heck, even in the winter months I like some color! Who doesn’t look better with a tan?! Bronzed, radiant skin can increase your confidence, make you look slimmer, and may prompt your friends to ask with envy, “Did you …

The health benefits of asparagus are top notch! Check it out! 10 Reasons Why You Should Eat More Asparagus Oy vey! This has been a crazy winter in Houston. Snow twice! And it’s been downright cold most of the time as compared to our relatively mild winters in the 6o’s. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a welcome change to actually have a “winter”, but all the indoor heat, dry air, and frigid temps are taking …

Lessen your chance of colds and flu in the winter months with Vitamin D! Cook This Weekend: 5 Slow Cooker Recipes For Fall That My Whole Family Loves

Yea! It really feels like fall in Houston this week and this weekend is supposed to be even cooler! When the temperature drops it’s the perfect time to get your slow cooker (crock pot in the south 😉) out and make some warm, comforting soups, stews, and other dishes that you might not cook in the warmer summer months. I love the ease of cooking a meal in the slow cooker. After a little prep while the kids are at school you can set it and forget it from 5 to 8 hours depending on the recipe. It makes dinnertime, and cleanup, a breeze. Oh, and don’t forget the aromas that fill the house throughout the day! Below I wanted to share with you some of mine and my family’s favorite fall and winter slow cooker recipes. Really I cook some of these year round, but when the temperatures dip they are way more pleasing! Just this week I made the red beans and rice and the taco soup. Today I’m throwing the lentil soup …
